ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Visions Memory Studio, located at 1787 West Division Road in Jasper, IN, is owned and operated by photographer, Lisa Weinzapfel. Her passion for photography began early in childhood while playing with an old, broken camera her mother kept in a chest at home. Lisa followed her dream and started her business three years ago after several years of studying photography and dreaming of owning a studio. Creativity and the desire to help people create beautiful images of themselves and their loved ones have guided her into making this a successful endeavor. Visions Memory Studio is available for high school seniors, pregnancy photos, children, families, pets, engagements, weddings, and special events.

Lisa majored in Visual Communications at Ivy Tech State College in Evansville, IN and continued at the New York Institute of Photography in 2004. She is a member of the Professional Photographers of America. Lisa especially enjoys child photography, and states, “Being able to capture the spontaneity and innocence of a child makes what I do extremely rewarding. The photography of children actually begins with pregnancy. The pregnancy sessions have resulted in beautiful artwork of the child’s precious beginning. There is nothing more special to a child than to have a portrait of their mother carrying them. For this purpose, pregnancy photography is a specialty in which I will always be interested.”

Engagements and weddings also are very special since this is such a happy time in any couple’s life. Engagement photos convey the romance and happiness that they are feeling. “I love to bring that out in couples. They come into the studio a little apprehensive about their clothes, smiles, etc., but as we begin, they loosen up and start acting like themselves. I want them to interact with each other in a normal, but magical way. The photos really show that playful side.”

Lisa has some of her work published in art books, and has photographed many special events over the years, as well as engagements and weddings. Her wish for her studio and her customers is that the photographs she creates for them give them comfort and happiness, which is the reason and purpose for her art. Visions Memory Studio is located close to Jasper, only one mile from Highway 231, but when driving down the winding driveway to the home and studio, you enter a peaceful, country setting. There you will find a full service indoor studio as well as natural outdoor backdrops such as a beautiful rose garden surrounded by a white fence and arbor. Just a few steps away are old barns, trees, and a lake. Lisa’s home shares space with the studio, giving the people who come there a little piece of her life and her sanctuary. Lisa lives with her husband, Steve, their three daughters, one dog, and three cats.
